CINCINNATI — The Friars have reached the must-win portion of their season.
After losing at Xavier on Wednesday night, Providence will carry a 18-12 record into their final regular-season game Saturday against St. John’s. With a 9-8 Big East mark, that contest looks like a necessity to further any chance of a fifth straight NCAA Tournament. “We know what we’re playing for and what’s at stake,” said senior Jalen Lindsey.
If the Friars can beat the Red Storm, they’ll play next Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. That game will be against an almost-certain NCAA tourney pick like Creighton or Butler.
