PROVIDENCE – The Providence College athletic department and Big East officials are talking, but it looks like a long shot to avoid having the Friars square off against the New England Patriots and the NFL playoffs next week.
PC has a game scheduled against Seton Hall for Saturday, Jan. 16, at 4:30. Only late Sunday night did the NFL announce its playoff plans, with the Patriots set to host their playoff game at Gillette Stadium on the same day, also at 4:30. Ever since that announcement, PC and Big East officials have discussed options in altering the tipoff time of the basketball game but as of late Tuesday, no progress has been made.
