NEW YORK – If the present group of Friars were asked to identify their most bitter defeat as collegians, two stand out.
One was a NCAA Tournament defeat to Dayton last March. The Friars didn’t play very well at all and were quickly dispatched out of the tournament by the Flyers, 66-53.
The second was a game in which the Friars feel they played very well and somehow didn’t lose. That would be a 63-61 loss to Villanova in last year’s Big East semifinals.
