PROVIDENCE - No one said it was going to be easy but the Providence Friars’ winning streak is still alive.
The Friars jumped on the Xavier Musketeers early, withstood a strong comeback and then rode two clutch hoops by Luwane Pipkins in crunch time to pull off a 80-74 Big East victory that owned a Sweet Sixteen feel.
PC has now won five straight games to build a sterling 11-6 Big East record and 18-12 overall. The Friars now own the look of an NCAA Tournament lock and will wrap up the regular season Saturday against DePaul.
