Providence College basketball legend Ernie DiGregorio is among six decorated former players and three former head coaches who’ve been selected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2019. The honorees will officially be enshrined on Nov. 24 in Kansas City.
Joining the North Providence native are Indiana’s Calbert Cheaney, Duke’s Shane Battier, Purdue’s Terry Dischinger, UNLV’s Larry Johnson and Stanford’s Todd Lichti as well as coaches Homer Drew, Lute Olson and Rick Majerus.
DiGregorio was the star point guard of PC’s teams from 1970-73. He averaged 20.5 points and a program-record 7.7 assists per game over his career, earning All-America honors as a junior and senior.
