PROVIDENCE - The Providence Friars have risen to No. 8 in this week's Associated Press college basketball poll.
PC was 12th last week but posted wins at then No. 9 Butler and over St. John's. PC hosts Marquette Tuesday night.
The Friars, who were slotted at No. 9 in the USA Today coaches poll, were ranked 10th two weeks ago. They haven't been as high as eighth since the 1976-77 team was also eighth for one week that season.
