The Providence College Friars’ defense looks ready for the start of the season.
The Friars held No. 23 Purdue to 28 percent shooting on the way to a 60-53 win Sunday morning in a closed scrimmage held at the Indiana Pacers practice facility in Indianapolis. Providence didn’t shoot well either at just 35 percent from the floor but rallied from a 14-point first half deficit to win. The Friars won the second half by a convincing 37-25 count.
Alpha Diallo led the Friars in 36 strong minutes as he totaled 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He also canned 7-of-8 free throws as the Friars made 16 of their 22 free throw attempts.
