PROVIDENCE - Providence College has been fined $5,000 by the Big East Conference due to a premature court storming in the final moments of Saturday’s win over Seton Hall.
With the Friars in position to grab the win, most of the fans seated in the student section behind one basket came onto the court even though 0.2 seconds remained on the clock. The game appeared set to end when Luwane Pipkins missed a free throw with four seconds left and the Friars leading, 74-68. Seton Hall chose to fire up a meaningless 3-point try but when PC freshman Greg Gantt inexplicably fouled the shooter, Quincy McKnight, with less than a second left, the fans rushed onto the floor.
