PROVIDENCE - As the crowd kept roaring and with the Xavier Musketeers nipping at their heels, the Providence Friars needed another clutch play or two to keep their dramatic late-season run rolling Wednesday night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
That’s when the Seniors stepped up.
Leading by just 75-74 with 1:40 left, the Friar offense looked a bit frazzled. Alpha Diallo, who had carried the team in an entertaining, back-and-forth second half, took the ball off a high screen with just six seconds on the shot clock. Cut off on a drive, he bounced a pass to a waiting Luwane Pipkins.
