OMAHA, Neb. — The Providence Friars have seen their share of nail-biters this season and have thrived in them, winning their last five games decided by five points or less.
But they got a taste of being on the wrong side of one on Saturday as they let a five-point lead slip away in the last 1:41 and dropped a 78-74 decision to Creighton.
The Bluejays' Marcus Zegarowski broke a 74-74 tie when he nailed a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left in the game.
Ty-Shon Alexander then intercepted an inbounds pass, got fouled and made a free throw to finish off the Friars.
