The race to the top, and the bottom, in the Big East remains alive with the end of the conference schedule only four days away.
While Villanova (13-4) and Marquette (12-4) fight it out for the regular-season crown, teams like Providence (6-10), Creighton (7-9) and Butler (6-10) are clawing and scratching to secure a first-round bye in next week’s Big East Tournament.
Since the Big East morphed into a 10-school league in 2014, Ed Cooley’s Friars have avoided a bottom-four finish and a Wednesday night date at Madison Square Garden. PC can still earn a coveted bye but must win its final two games, first on Wednesday at Creighton and then in Saturday’s regular-season finale against Butler.
