PC 94 St. John’s 72: Friars blow past Red Storm behind Cartwright

JAMAICA, N.Y. – Now this is the team Providence College fans have been waiting for.

Playing close to full health for the first time in three weeks, the Friars opened Big East play with a bang Thursday night as they blew by the Red Storm of St. John’s, 94-72, before a sellout crowd (5,602) at Carnesecca Arena.

Providence enjoyed its best shooting night of the season by canning an uncanny 16 3-pointers, 11 in a second half where the Friars out-scored the home team, 53-32.

The 16 threes were the most by the Friars in a game since 2009.
