PROVIDENCE – After emphasizing a faster offensive pace for the last several days, the Providence Friars practiced what Ed Cooley preached Saturday against Iona.
The Friars managed just 47 points in a loss to Michigan last Sunday but ran past Iona, 91-79, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. PC (4-2) shot 49 percent, hit nine 3-pointers and looked very much like a very different offensive team.
Alpha Diallo led the Friars with 23 points and nine rebounds. A.J. Reeves canned four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points. Nate Watson and Isaiah Jackson added 13 points apiece.
