PROVIDENCE – Now this was not the type of tuneup the Providence Friars were planning on.
The Friars had the Broncs from Rider on the ropes in the first half but when they failed to deliver a knockout punch, a shootout broke out. The result was a back-and-forth show with the Friars ultimately surviving, 88-84 Wednesday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
Providence (6-1) was led by Rodney Bullock’s 23 points and six rebounds. Kyron Cartwright added 14 points with seven assists and Alpha Diallo put up 13 points.
Rider (5-2) received outstanding performances from redshirt freshman Jordan Allen (28 points) and Srevie Jordan (19, 9 assists).
