PROVIDENCE – Anyone doubting the importance of freshman A.J. Reeves’ mid-season foot injury on the ultimate success of Providence College’s basketball season caught an eyeful Saturday afternoon.
With Reeves knocking down one 3-point shot after another, the Friars owned an entirely different, fresh offensive look than they’ve carried the majority of the season. The result was 24 points and six threes from Reeves, 20 more from senior Isaiah Jackson in his final home game and a breeze of a victory over Butler, 83-70.
The Friars will move on to this week’s Big East Tournament with some needed confidence not only that they can make an impact against a balanced field but also play with an offensive crispness that they’ve lacked.
