CINCINNATI – The Cintas Center curse is over.
For the first time in six tries, the Providence Friars found a way to win at Xavier Wednesday night. Despite plenty of sloppiness, PC held on down the stretch and secured a 64-62 nailbiter victory.
In position to win for the umpteenth game in a row, this time the Friars got the job done. A stingy defense kept the Musketeers (11-9, 3-4) in check and contributions up and down the lineup allowed the Friars (12-7, 2-3) to grab a vital road victory.
Both teams fought for control in the first half with Xavier jumping out early before the Friars dominated play.
