HARTFORD — Josh Wilkins netted a hat trick as Providence College scored three times in the third period on the way to a 5-2 victory over Connecticut in a Hockey East game on Tuesday night at the XL Center.
With the win, PC (20-9-5 overall, 12-7-2 in Hockey East) moved into second place in the league behind Massachusetts.
Kasper Bjorkqvist and Brandon Duhaime also scored for PC. Jack Dugan and Ben Mirageas each had two assists.
UConn (10-20-2, 10-15-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:42 into the game on a goal by Jonny Evans.
Thirty-nine seconds later, PC tied the game on an unassisted goal by Wilkins.
