PROVIDENCE — It was over before it started.
Providence College scored four times in the first nine minutes and steamrolled Brown University, 5-1, at Meehan Auditorium on Tuesday night. With the win, the Friars retained the Mayor’s Cup, which they’ve held since 2016.
Coming off a pair of losses to Boston College and Boston University over the weekend, PC coach Nate Leaman had his team ready. The Friars, ranked 10th and 11th in the polls, scored early and often in the first half of the first period, winning every race and every battle and overwhelming the Bears.
