PROVIDENCE — Senior captain Brian Pinho scored a goal and added an assist and Hayden Hawkey stopped 15 shots for his third shutout of the season as 11th-ranked Providence College beat Brown University, 5-0, at Schneider Arena on Wednesday night.
Other goal-scorers were Greg Printz, Scott Conway, Josh Wilkins, and Ben Mirageas, who also tallied two assists.
With the win, PC (13-7-1) retained the Mayor’s Cup. The Friars lead the series between the teams, which dates to 1927, at 50-46-3.
Scoring chances were at a minimum in the first period. PC had the territorial edge and outshot the Bears, 10-7, while winning 13 of 19 faceoffs.
