PC 4, Miami University 2: Friars pull away with two late goals

PROVIDENCE — For more than 48 minutes Friday night, Providence College outplayed Miami University.

Just when it was starting to look like the Friars might go unrewarded for their efforts, they scored twice in the third period on the way to a 4-2 victory over the 16th-ranked RedHawks at Schneider Arena.

Freshman Matt Koopman, who just enrolled at PC for the second semester after playing for Waterloo of the United States Hockey League, scored his first goal at 8:46 of the third period and it ended up being the game-winner.

Scott Conway, Tyce Thompson and Vimal Sukumaran scored PC’s other goals.
