PC 3, Vermont 1: Pinho leads Friars with a goal and two assists

  • BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Sophomore center Brian Pinho scored a goal and two assists and Nick Ellis made 30 saves as third-ranked Providence College beat Vermont, 3-1.
    Nick Saracino opened the scoring for the Friars 25 seconds into the game. Brandon Tanev and Pinho were credited with assists.
    Trevor Mingoia doubled the lead for PC (14-3-4) with a shorthanded goal at 1:54 of the second period. Josh Monk and Pinho assisted.
    Brendan Bradley put Vermont on the board at 4:03, from Brady Shaw and Mario Puskarich.
    Pinho restored PC's two-goal lead at 15:12 of the second period.
