PC 3, UConn 1: Friars extend unbeaten streak to seven

HARTFORD -- Josh Wilkins scored twice in the first five minutes and 10th-ranked Providence College went on to a 3-1 win over Connecticut at the XL Center on Thursday night.

The Friars, who are 6-0-1 in their last seven games, play the Huskies again on Saturday night at Schneider Arena.

Wilkins’ 10th goal of the season at 3:55 gave PC (16-7-2 overall, 9-4-2 in Hockey East) an early lead. Assists went to Jacob Bryson and Kasper Bjorkqvist.

Sixty-two seconds later, Wilkins doubled the Friars’ lead, with assists to Ben Mirageas and Bryson.

Vimal Sukumaran made it 3-0 at 18:04, cleaning up a rebound after Shane Kavanagh made a strong play to the net.
