PROVIDENCE — Nick Ellis bent but didn’t break.
Providence College's junior netminder let in a soft goal in the second period, but more than made up for it by stopping all 18 shots he faced in the third period as the fifth-ranked Friars beat seventh-ranked Notre Dame, 3-1, on Saturday night at Schneider Arena, completing a two-game sweep of the Fighting Irish.
Erik Foley, Brandon Tanev and Kevin Rooney scored the PC goals. Steven Fogarty scored the only goal for the Fighting Irish.
