PROVIDENCE — The University of New Hampshire has been a thorn in Providence College’s side over the last couple of seasons and the Wildcats played the Friars tough again on Friday night.
The fourth-ranked Friars came away with a 3-1 victory at Schneider Arena, but they had to work for it against the Wildcats, who beat PC in the Hockey East playoffs in 2014 and 2015.
Goals by Trevor Mingoia in the second period, Mark Jankowski in the third and an empty-netter by Steve McParland with 25 seconds left were the difference for PC, which got 25 saves from Nick Ellis.
