PROVIDENCE — Scott Conway’s power-play goal with 49 seconds left in overtime lifted Providence College to a 3-2 win over Maine at Schneider Arena on Friday night.
With Maine’s Nolan Vesey in the box for charging Friar goalie Hayden Hawkey, Conway backhanded the puck past Black Bear goalie Jeremy Swayman (39 saves) for his 11th goal of the season.
Hawkey made 31 saves and Vimal Sukumaran had a goal and an assist for PC, which is ranked ninth and 10th in the national polls.
With the win, the Friars (11-6-4 in Hockey East, 18-9-4 overall) jumped over Northeastern and into second place in Hockey East.
