PROVIDENCE — It was a nailbiter for 40 minutes, but eighth-ranked Providence College took care of business in the third period and pulled away for a 3-1 win over Boston College at Schneider Arena on Thursday night.
PC’s victory in the final game of the Hockey East regular season clinched second place behind UMass. The Friars will host either BC or New Hampshire starting next Friday in a best-of-three first round playoff series.
Goals by Tyce Thompson, Josh Wilkins and Kasper Bjorkqvist in the first 11:15 of the final period broke open a scoreless game. The goals by Wilkins and Bjorkqvist were on the power play.
