BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Austin McIllmurray scored with about three minutes left in regulation, giving Sacred Heart University a 2-2 tie with fifth-ranked Providence College in a nonleague game on Saturday night at Webster Bank Arena.
PC’s record dips to 3-1-1 overall (1-0-0 Hockey East), while Sacred Heart is 0-2-1 (0-0-0 AHC).
The Friars got off to strong start with Brian Lemos, the East Providence native, scoring just 4:09 into the first period on an assist from Ryan Tait. Lemos scored from the top of the left circle under the blocker of goaltender Brett Magnus.
Providence extended its lead to 2-0 at the 11:56 mark as Josh Wilkins finished off a highlight-reel goal for his second tally in as many nights.
