PC 2, Merrimack 2: Friars knot it up late

PROVIDENCE — The Providence and Merrimack men's hockey teams skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday night at Schneider Arena after the Friars scored the tying goal will just under four minutes to play in regulation.

The No. 15 Friars (3-3-2, 0-1-1 Hockey East) took an early lead on Jake Walman's wrist shot at the 8:23 mark of the first period. The Warriors (4-4-2, 0-1-2) answered with back-to-back goals (Brett Seney and Hampus Gustafsson) in a span of just over four minutes, giving Merrimack a 2-1 lead.

After a scoreless second period — despite combining for 22 shots and four power-play opportunities — Providence's Anthony Florentino tied the game at 15:57.
