PROVIDENCE — Coach Nate Leaman was right on the money when he predicted that Providence College’s quarterfinal Hockey East playoff series against Merrimack would be a rock fight.
After a hard-fought win by PC on Friday, the Friars and Warriors pummeled each other for nearly 51 scoreless minutes on Saturday night before a goal by freshman Garrett Gamez and a late empty-netter by Kevin Rooney lifted PC to a 2-0 win over Merrimack.
