PC 2, #2 Denver 2: Third-period goal earns Pioneers a tie

PROVIDENCE – Providence College went toe-to-toe with Denver University, one of this season’s NCAA heavyweights, and came away with a 2-2 tie on Friday night at Schneider Arena.

The Friars (7-6-4) carried a one-goal into the third period, but second-ranked Denver (12-3-4) tied it on a goal by Jarid Lukosevius with 11:24 to go.

Defenseman Jake Walman had a strong game for PC, with a goal and eight shots on net. Garrett Gamez scored the Friars’ second goal and Brian Pinho had two assists.

Denver goalie Tanner Jaillet stopped 35 shots.
