PROVIDENCE – This opener couldn’t have unfolded much better for the Providence College Friars.
Sparked by some hot, team-wide shooting and a pesky defense, the Friars jumped all over Sacred Heart and rolled to a 106-60 victory before an appreciative Dunkin’ Donuts Center crowd. PC flew past the Pioneers to build a dominating first half lead of 59-30 and never looked back.
The Friars flashed all sorts of positives in this one. Right off the top, new point guard Luwane Pipkins applied the defensive ball pressure and the outside shooting pop coach Ed Cooley is hoping for.
