PROVIDENCE -- Providence College scored on its first shot 20 seconds into the first period, but the 10th-ranked Friars settled for a 1-1 tie with New Hampshire in a Hockey East game at Schneider Arena on Friday night.
PC (7-4-3 overall, 4-2-1 in Hockey East) got on the board when Jason O’Neill’s shot from a sharp angle beat New Hampshire goalie Mike Robinson, who then stopped the next 32 Friar shots. Kasper Bjorkqvist assisted on O’Neill’s goal.
The Wildcats (2-6-5, 1-3-3) tied the game when Brendan van Riemsdyk scored a shorthanded goal at 7:24 of the second period.
