PC 1, Boston University 1: Dugan’s 3rd period goal evens game for Friars

PROVIDENCE — Jack Dugan’s goal with 7:29 left lifted Providence College into a 1-1 tie with Boston University in a Hockey East game at Schneider Arena on Thursday night.

The Friars dominated, outshooting the Terriers, 46-20, but Jake Oettinger was outstanding in goal for BU (13-15-4 overall, 11-8-3 in Hockey East).

With the tie, PC (20-9-6, 13-7-3) clinched home ice in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs. They are in second place behind UMass.

Shane Bowers opened the scoring at 7:25 of the first period, shoveling the rebound of Joel Farabee’s shot into the net past PC goalie Hayden Hawkey (19 saves).
