Bill Eason, a star on multiple NCAA Tournament teams at Providence College in the late-1970′s, died on Sunday in Springfield, Mass.

Eason was a 6-5 forward from Waterbury, Conn., who was part of one of Dave Gavitt’s best-ever recruiting classes. Along with Bruce Campbell, Bob Misevicius and Steve Strother. Over the next four years those Friars teams won 89 games, played in two NIT’s and two NCAA’s. Eason’s final game came in an NCAA Tournament loss to freshman Earvin `Magic’ Johnson.

Eason is the 10th leading all-time rebounder at Providence and the 31st leading scorer with 1,159 points.
