ERIE, PA. -- Notre Dame scored two power play goals on the way to a 3-0 victory over Providence College in the championship game of the Ice Breaker Tournament.
The game was a rematch of the final of the NCAA East Regional in Bridgeport in March, which Notre Dame won on a late goal and advanced to the Frozen Four.
Joe Wegwerth opened the scoring for the Irish (2-0, ranked second in the country) with 2:24 left in the second period with PC’s Greg Printz in the penalty box for tripping.
Colin Theisen doubled Notre Dame’s lead with a goal at 3:59 of the third period.
