BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — It wasn’t in overtime, but Providence College died a sudden death against Notre Dame in the East Regional final on Saturday night at Webster Bank Arena.
Dylan Malmquist scored with 27 seconds left in regulation, lifting the top-seeded Fighting Irish to a 2-1 victory and driving a stake into the hearts of the Friars. Notre Dame (27-9-2) advances to the Frozen Four, which will be held in Saint Paul, Minn., on April 5, for the second straight year.
With the heartbreaking loss, PC’s season is over.
