Hockey East took no action after investigating an incident in Friday’s Providence College-Boston College game in which an Eagles player allegedly directed a racial comment at PC’s Vimal Sukumaran.
The incident occurred during the second period and was overheard by a linesman, who reported it to one of the referees. No penalty was called. From there it was reported to league officials.
Commissioner Joe Bertagna conducted an investigation starting on Saturday and he issued a statement on Wednesday night.
“While we are aware some inappropriate remarks were made between players on the ice, we were unable to determine the source of the remarks with the degree of certainty necessary to take further action at this time.
