With the nor’easter set to hammer New England on Tuesday, the University of Rhode Island made its escape for Pittsburgh in the dead of night.
The Rams boarded a bus at the Ryan Center late Monday for the first leg of their journey, departing well ahead of the storm, their Wednesday media obligations and Thursday’s matchup with Oklahoma in their NCAA Tournament opener. Players, coaches and staff members spent Monday night in New Jersey and headed west early Tuesday morning, with the team charter flight carrying family members, spirit squads and other athletic department personnel postponed until early Wednesday.
