NCAA announces top 16 hoop seeds, red hot Rhody falls short

With four weeks to go before Selection Sunday, the Rhode Island Rams are flying high and still fighting for national respect.

The NCAA’s men’s basketball committee announced its late-season top 16 seeds Sunday and the red hot Rams weren’t included. URI, which is riding a 15-game winning streak, is fifth in the current NCAA Ratings Percentage Index but that factor is apparently overshadowed by a lack of top shelf wins.

Bruce Rasmussen, the athletic director at Creighton and chair of the selection committee, consistently mentioned the `Quad 1 and Quad 2′ wins by several teams that did make the top 16.
