AMHERST, Mass. --- The nonconference road continues to be an unforgiving place for Providence College.

Massachusetts sent the shorthanded Friars into final exam break on a sour note, answering at the perfect time when Saturday’s game appeared to be slipping from its grasp.

The Minutemen locked up on defense, rediscovered leading scorer Luwane Pipkins at the right time and surged down the stretch for a 72-63 win over the Friars at Mullins Center.

Providence took its largest lead of the game – five points – and promptly went the next 8:47 without a field goal, as Massachusetts mounted a 21-3 run to put this one out of reach.
