The 2018-19 college hockey season is just getting rolling and lots of great moments will play out over the next six-plus months.
No matter how many highlight-reel goals, great saves and overtime wins are to come, however, the scene at Messa Rink in Schenectady, N.Y., last Saturday night will stand out as one of the season’s most memorable. Union College defeated Army, 4-1, in the season opener for both teams. When the final horn sounded, the Cadets gathered around Union sophomore Jack Adams to comfort him on the recent death at age 27 of Adams’ older brother, Mark, a member of Providence College’s 2015 national championship team.
