News and views from around the rinks:
-- One of the great moments in Providence College’s run to the national championship in 2015 came when Drew Brown laced up his skates and stepped onto the ice at TD Garden near the end of practice on the day before the final game.
The outpouring of love that Brown’s teammates showed for him that day is something I’ll never forget.
Brown, now 25, had missed the season while undergoing treatment for Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. No longer able to play after having a seven-inch piece of his femur removed, he returned to the team the next year as a student assistant coach and earned his degree.
