Mark Divver: News and views from around the rinks

Clappers, wristers and rebounds from around the rinks:

*** While chatting with close observers of Hockey East at the Beanpot on Monday night, one question came up repeatedly: “What’s up with the Friars?″

Answer: Nothing that a timely goal or two wouldn’t fix.

A loss and a tie against Vermont last weekend left a sour taste. The Friars scored just once in each game despite outpossessing, outchancing and outshooting the Catamounts. Goalie Stefanos Lekkas gave them fits, kicking out 79 of 81 shots.

On most weekends, the way that PC played would have earned them at least a win, if not two.
