PROVIDENCE – It’s been years since Providence College snuck up on anyone. It won’t happen this season. The Friars are going to be good again and everyone knows it.
How good? That’s the big question as PC opens its season on Friday night at Miami University.
Expect their fortunes to rise or fall depending on how long it takes their three freshmen defensemen to get up to speed and whether goalie Hayden Hawkey can bump his save percentage up to .920 or even .925 for the entire season.
Not that polls mean much (or anything), but it appears that the voters nationally don’t know quite what to make of this year’s team.
