When I called Scott Borek on Wednesday morning he’d been watching Providence College’s last game against UMass, which the Friars dominated but lost on a late goal.
“They are playing pretty darn fast, aren’t they? They’re stretching, they’re leaving the zone, (coach Nate Leaman is) allowing them to play long. They’re just playing a faster brand of hockey,″ he said.
Borek would know. He’s now Merrimack’s head coach, but he spent the last three seasons as associate head coach at PC. The teams play a home-and-home series this weekend, and Borek is excited for the challenge.
“Just because of who their team is, I have so much respect for the place and the program.
