ORONO, Maine — The Maine men’s hockey team snapped a 15-game losing streak and 19-game winless streak against Providence College with a 3-1 victory over the 11th-ranked Friars on Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
The Friars had beaten the Black Bears, 1-0, on Friday night here.
Maine grabbed a 1-0 lead at 11:39 of the first period when Chase Pearson scored his 15th goal of the season.
Providence tied it at 1-1 just under four minutes later on a power-play goal from Brandon Duhaime. Spenser Young sent a pass from the point along the boards to Jason O’Neill and he found Duhaime at the top of the crease for the equalizer.
