ANAHEIM, Cal. – The Providence College Friars are springing leaks in all the wrong places as one crippling loss after another piles up in this young season.
One of the most painful defeats of the Ed Cooley Era ruined the Friars’ Thanksgiving Day plans Thursday in the first round of the Wooden Legacy. After getting let down by its defense in a loss to Penn back in Rhode Island, the team’s seniors combined to make several mistakes down the stretch as the Friars let a 17-point lead slip away and allowed Long Beach State to rally and pull off a stunning 66-65 upset.
