PROVIDENCE — It didn’t take long to realize that E.C. Matthews wasn’t going to run onto the floor at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Saturday with a Keaney blue jersey on.
It also became quickly apparent that Kyron Cartwright wouldn’t be steering the Friar fastbreak through yet another rivalry game with the Rams.
Most important, there was no Dan Hurley roaming the sideline, ripping into an official every time he dared toot his whistle. He’s taken his bark to the woods of Connecticut.
This was the start to a new chapter of the PC-URI basketball rivalry, one that offered much promise with loads of new leading men.
