BUFFALO – The way Josh Wilkins tells it, he and Providence College were meant to be.
As a youngster, while playing in a tournament for his hometown Carolina Junior Hurricanes, he attended a PC-Maine game at Schneider Arena.
“That was the first college game I ever saw,″ he said.
In 2015, Wilkins watched on TV as PC upset heavily favored Boston University to win the national championship. He felt a kinship with the Friars.
“They were the underdog and that’s kind of how my whole life has been,″ he said. “I thought maybe this is destiny for me to go here.
