  • PROVIDENCE — A few of Nick Ellis’ buddies began giving him a good-natured ribbing when they saw a reporter was at Schneider Arena to interview the Providence College goalie.
    "You’re a star! You’re going to be famous!" they joked.
    "Don’t worry," replied the reporter, also in a kidding tone. "This story is going to be all about how he’s not as good as Jon Gillies."
    Immediately, Ellis’ pals leaped to his defense.
    "He’s better than Gillies," one said.
    "The numbers don’t lie," said another.
